I had a hernia operation in August and was very pleased with the care and attention I received from Mr Robertson and the team at Spire. I was immediately put at ease by Mr Robertson who is very professional and has an empathy with the patient All went well and I have since made a very speedy recovery. Thank you.

I was referred to Mr Robertson by my GP after being taken ill while abroad. I found him to be very attentive and easy to talk too. He explained clearly what was causing my illness including a diagram which I found very informative. He carried out my surgery and I made a full and speedy recovery. Mr Robertson and all the staff at Spire Leicester were excellent and I couldn't have asked for better treatment. Many thanks to all.

First and foremost, I would very much like to thank Mr. Gavin Robertson for immediately putting myself at ease during the first consultation, his professionalism and easy manner were reassuring and altogether comforting during this stressful time. I was an NHS referred patient, and I was very grateful Mr. Robertson agreed to see me regarding my umbilical hernia. All my questions and concerns about the hernia, and a possible operation thereafter, were answered and addressed in such a way that when the consultation had finished, I felt very calm and happy knowing that in the very near future I was going to have the hernia removed by Mr. Robertson. On the day of the operation, again, I was put at ease by all the nursing staff at the Spire Leicester Hospital who were kind, considerate and caring. I was visited by Mr. Robertson who spoke in a clear and concise way and I was able to easily understand everything being said to me. The operation itself went very well, and after coming round from the anesthetic felt slight discomfort which is to be expected, but surprisingly I wasn't in any great pain, and the days following were the same, virtually pain free, in fact I only took pain killers for about 3 days after the operation, and I was walking and moving about with ease, which must be a testament to the high level of skill and experience Mr Robertson has. I was a little apprehensive about changing the dressing and removing the pressure pad for the first time, and although the dressing came away very easily the pressure pad did not, as it tugged on the stitches and the skin surrounding the wound, but with perseverance I managed to remove it and found the wound to be very clean, with very neat stitches (I have mentioned the pressure pad to Mr. Robertson on my follow up meeting). Two weeks after the operation my naval is now "normal" with no scaring whatsoever. I'm now back at work doing almost everything I did before and I must say, I'm very happy with how I look and my confidence has soared, as I was quite down in the dumps pre op. If you are reading this review and have an umbilical hernia which you are concerned about (and why shouldn't you be) and also feel a little embarrassed about showing your tummy to friends and family as I was, then I personally and highly recommend Mr. Gavin Robertson as your first point of contact in resolving your hernia.
